History

The Training, Resource, Advocacy, and Information Network (TRAINet), founded in 1990 by the Institute for Human Services, is the formal association of public child welfare organizations and their affiliated universities and agencies, that operate the Comprehensive, Competency-Based Inservice Training (CCBIT) System for Child Welfare.

1994
The first International Competency-Based Training Conference and TRAINet Meeting for CCBIT System users is held in Phoenix, hosted by the Arizona CCBIT System. Twenty-eight states and provinces are represented.

1995

The second International Competency-Based Training Conference and TRAINet Meeting for CCBIT system users is held in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

TRAINet, Western Region, holds its first annual meeting, with Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah in attendance.

1997
TRAINet, Western Region, holds its third annual network meeting, adding representatives from Colorado, the Navajo Nation, and Oklahoma.

1998
TRAINet, Western Region, holds its fourth annual network meeting in Mesquite, Nevada, for 60+ training managers from Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Fresno, Oklahoma, and the Navajo Nation.The third International Competency-Based Training Conference and TRAINet Meeting for CCBIT system users is held in Columbus, Ohio.
The Ohio Department of Human Services (now the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services) and Public Children Services Association of Ohio receive TRAINet Quality Awards for the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program.

1999
TRAINet Symposium is held in Glen Arbor, Michigan, for two days of training on team building, collaboration, and facilitating/managing change. TRAINet, Western Region, holds its fifth annual network meeting in Cortez, Colorado, for training managers from Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, California, Oklahoma, and the Navajo Nation.


2000
TRAINet 2000 Forum is held in Glen Arbor, Michigan. Pennsylvania and Arizona receive TRAINet Quality Awards for ten years of exemplary performance of their CCBIT systems for child welfare.

2002
TRAINet 2002 Forum is held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Over 150 participants were in attendance from 26 states and provinces in North America.
