Prior to joining the staff of IHS in 2000, Ms. Hoffman worked for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, where she focused on policy and budget issues in child protective services, adoption, child abuse and neglect prevention, family violence and welfare reform. In this capacity, she worked extensively with the state legislature and statewide advocacy organizations on policy development. Ms. Hoffman was most recently Executive Assistant to the Director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. In this position, she directed the work of Governor Taft's Child Welfare Reform Shareholders Group in 1999 - 2000.
Ms. Hoffman was recognized by Governor Voinovich for her work on adoption legislation in 1995, and she received the Adoption Triad, Advocate of the Year Award in 1996, in recognition of her contribution to adoption reform. She also received the Public Children Services Association of Ohio, Advocate of the Year award in 1997.
In consultation with the National Network for Child Safety, Ms. Hoffman also provides technical assistance to state agencies and associations on strategic and operational planning and cross-system collaboration.
As a policy analyst and training coordinator, Ms. Hoffman works on the programs of the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program. Her principal activities include gathering and analyzing data for a statewide developmental assessment; designing and developing skill-building interventions; and conducting evaluations of training programs.
Ms. Hoffman co-authored the OCWTP Skills in Collaboration training curriculum, A Continuum of Evaluation Strategies for the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program, and has provided extensive training to child welfare staff on topics related to welfare reform policy and law, and collaboration among service systems. She has also coordinated IHS welfare reform training initiatives for County Departments of Job and Family Services.
